Pepper Salt Crispy Lotus Slices

  • 300g lotus root
  • Chili padi (optional)
  • 1 tbsp chopped garlic
  • 1 tbsp chopped spring onion
  • 1 tbsp chopped red chili
  • 1 tbsp chopped coriander
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Crispy mix flour

Pepper salt ( mix well) :

  • 1/2 tbsp fine salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp five spices powder
  • 1/2 tsp MSG (optional)


  1. Wash the lotus root and cut into thin slices. Blanch into boiling water for 5 minutes. Remove and drained.
  2. Mix the lotus root slices with crispy mix flour and salt until well combined. Deep fry into hot oil until golden in colour and crispy.
  3. Leave a bit of oil in the preheated wok to saute chooped garlic, spring onion, and chilies till fragrant. Add in fried lotus root, stirring constantly for a while. Lastly, mix with pepper salt mixture. Stir fry until well combined. Dish up and serve hot.
